Pet insurance worth having!
I signed up my 2 dogs for a plan with the Routine Wellness package add-on on June 13, 2025. I took them to my veterinarian on June 16, 2025, which was 3 days later and submitted a claim for both dogs. I was reimbursed in full within 1 day! The Routine Wellness add-on has no waiting period and no deductible and I find it completely worth having. It cost me $510 total for both dogs and getting reimbursed for this cost is invaluable.

I paid my bill at the vet for $278. It was for a wellness visit ( his first) and I sent a picture of the bill to Pumpkin. In about 10 days I received a check for $177 which is perfect. The $100 difference was for a 2nd shot (they pay for 1) and they paid the most expensive shot....plus my baby needed flea meds so I got them there so thats the other $100 so I am very happy with my 1st experience with Pumpkin.

This company helped me keep not only my bills down, but my peace of mind. My cats are like my kids and of course I worry about them. Pumpkin is a great investment, and one I didn't have to use for almost 5 years until my cat son decided he liked eating plastic. What could have been an overly expensive pet visit (think almost $1000) I only ended up paying a little under $500. You will not regret your choice of picking up pet insurance for your little family member.

It was as very easy to enroll and the policy is clear on what it covers. We also picked up the essentials coverage, and have already used it. I was very surprised at how quick the claims were processed. We have only had Pumpkin for a week and have used it twice. Both claims were processed in two days!

Peace of Mind when your Pet is Sick
This was my first time having to use Pumpkin. My pup got really sick and we had no choice but a 24 hour animal hospital. Of course we were worried about cost but I also knew I had Pumpkin from the day I bought him home. The claim process was so easy and it only took a couple of days for the funds to be put in our bank. Our bill was over 1,000 dollars. We did have a 500 dollar deductible, However Pumpkin covered the rest.

Professional staff, but disappointing policy interpretation
I’ve had a mixed experience with Pumpkin Pet Insurance. On the positive side, every interaction I’ve had with their team has been professional and clear—staff are courteous, responsive, and do a good job of explaining their decisions. That said, I was disappointed by their handling of a claim for a diagnostic heartworm test performed at my rescue dog’s first vet visit. The test was part of her routine wellness care and was clearly preventive in nature, but it was denied solely because the result was positive. I understand not covering treatment for a pre-existing condition, but denying a diagnostic test—whose whole purpose is to determine whether such a condition exists—feels inconsistent with the purpose of the wellness plan. The overall customer service is solid, but policy interpretation in this case felt overly rigid and counter to what pet owners expect from a preventive care plan. I hope Pumpkin revisits how it handles diagnostic testing in similar cases going forward.

I would have given 5 stars but the insurance didn’t cover any of the medication form both, our local vet nor the emergency visit. The total costs for the actual visits from either facility wasn’t covered; only a small portion. I guess some is better than nothing.

Next day payment for emergency visit claim
My dog recently had two visits to the local emergency vet. The second bill was nearly 4 times the amount of the first bill due to the need for more extensive testing. Pumpkin automatically expedited the payment of the more expensive bill and money was deposited in my bank account the next day. The smaller bill took longer to process but was still made within a reasonable amount of time. Pumpkin expedites more expensive invoices (don't know the parameters) to relieve the financial burden on the owner. I wish my human health insurance was this good with claim reimbursement.
