SoFi is there when you need them
I’m old school, and I appreciate actually talking to people i do business with - it is just more personal. All associates were courteous, knowledgeable and helpful throughout the loan process. The only problem I ran into was with the chat bots; there was a communication barrier that prevented the accurate transfer of information to the correct associates. All in all, though, the process went smoothly and I would recommend Sofii to anyone looking for a loan. The repayment terms are fair and automatic debit each month takes the worry out of staying up to date on the account.

SoFi came through when no one would help me

I wanted a fixed rate second mortgage loan, but all other lenders only offered a variable rate Heloc or wanted me to roll over my first mortgage, which is at half the interest, into a new mortgage loan. SoFi was the only lender where I was able to find what I wanted. The only portion of the negotiation I balked at was the title company. The title company listed on my documentation had negative reviews and was a four hour drive away. One does not want a title issue where there could be filing recording errors. I found a local title company and Eric worked tirelessly to arrange the paperwork and fee changes. Another concern was them selling the loan to a sub prime company where I might have issues in locating the company online and physically making payments. With my excellent credit rating they stated my loan was unlikely to be sold, as I have a solid payment track record and have never been late with any payments in over thirty years on any account. While no one knows what the future holds; I hope I never have to deal with a payment issue. Thank you SoFi!

Can't fit my whole name
To get to the point, much of my frustration has to do with the fact that my legal name does not appear on my debit card. It was shortened to just my first initial + last name without any warning that it would appear this way. This has never happened in my 25 years of holding bank cards and credit cards in my full name. I chatted several customer service reps. One tried to argue what embossing meant. Their cards are not embossed. They're printed. Most tried to gaslight me into thinking my full name is over the 26 character limit and that this standard across all cards. My full legal first name + last name is 20 characters. If I even included my middle name, I'd still be at the 26 character limit. This is absolutely frustrating considering my full name is on my SoFi account profile. There is also a lot of visible space left on the debit card where my name is. There are other issues as I peel back the layers, like for some reason PayPal transactions only show up as "PayPal" which makes it more difficult to tell what I spent my money on. At first I was excited at the promise of sign on bonuses, high APY for both checking and savings, services such as checking, savings, investing all under one roof but the name thing is a terrible first impression and has me contemplating just closing my accounts.

Good, Competitive Loan Offers, Poor Review Process and Unhelpful Customer Service
I have yet to get my loan, but they have been very slow to review my application and there should be no issue with me receiving my loan, as I have a decent credit score and a co-signer with an excellent credit score. I chose SoFi because of their positive reviews from others and them being consistently considered high as far as lenders go, but the slow pacing of the review process for the application has left a sour taste with me. Their customer service has been decent, but they provide zero info in communicating how the process is going, only continuously telling me that it's still in review and they will get to it at some point. This has provided zero time frame about when this will happen, so for all I know, it could be two months from now. Other than that, the application process was easy and the offerings have been pretty good, with decent APRs and payment terms that are manageable and affordable. Once I actually get the loan (whenever that is), I can hopefully amend the review to be more positive, but right now, I am not happy with how the application processing is going.

The app is great, the application process is great and everything about finding what you want and getting it is so hassle free except the overwhelming spam you have to put up with for the plus membership which isn't required and would be great if I happened to want to change banks and spend hours online to re-setup the dozens of payment accounts but as it is I don't have that kind of time and honestly, the membership fee is ridiculous. You don't get what you pay for.
